Title: Child Nutrition Supervisor

Reports To: Executive Director of Child Nutrition

Terms of Employment: Full Time 12 Months

Salary Range: NC State Salary Schedule

FLSA Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt

 

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree
  • Two years supervisory experience in school foodservice or related field.

 

Supervises:

  • Child Nutrition Cafeteria Employees

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Monitors all cafeteria operations
  • Analyzes operations for food and labor costs, recommending the implementation of improvements in service, equipment, food preparation, personnel assignments, and nutritional standards
  • Trains and supervises the work of child nutrition services personnel in assigned area(s), makes modifications to assignments and sets priorities
  • Prepares supporting documentation for and recommends employee recognition and discipline
  • Recommends modifications of work procedures and schedules to meet special needs and conditions
  • Makes oral and written directives
  • Advises subordinate managers on matters related to employee supervision
  • Consults with department/site managers when appropriate, to resolve ordering, supply, and serving problems
  • Travels to school sites to monitor food products, storage, staff utilization, sanitation and safety practices, record keeping, internal cash controls, operations methodologies, and conduct regularly scheduled audits and inspections
  • Conducts on-site reviews- Production Records and HACCP Verification
  • Provides basic instruction to subordinates in the use of a computer to perform regularly assigned job tasks
  • Reports operations problems to the Child Nutrition Services Manager and Director
  • Makes active and consistent effort to maintain and improve the overall internal and external image of the Child Nutrition Services Department and of the District
  • Ensures production records are completed accurately each day in each school within the district
  • Assures that each cafeteria is operating according to state, local and federal guidelines
  • Files reports and reviews that are required each year by the state
  • Conducts routine on-site reviews of all facilities
  • Assumes and performs all other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned to the position by law, by the Child Nutrition Director, by the Superintendent, and by rules and regulations of the Department of Public Instruction, the State Board of Education, and the USDA Food and Nutrition Service

 

Physical and Cognitive Requirements:

The major physical and cognitive requirements listed below are applicable to the Child Nutrition Supervisor job classification within Hoke County Schools. Work in this classification is considered light physical work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.

 

Must be able to:

  • Prepare, read and comprehend a variety of job related forms, reports, spreadsheets, maps, plans, records, documentation and correspondence
  • Understand and conform to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style
  • Speak to individuals or groups of people with poise, voice control and confidence

  • Operate/use a variety of automated office machines and other job specific office equipment
